Honeywell Li-ion Tamer LT-ACC-HUB-POE-HON Gen 3 PoE Hub

The Honeywell Li-ion Tamer LT-ACC-HUB-POE-HON is a Power over Ethernet (PoE) hub designed for use within Li-ion Tamer Gen 3 lithium-ion battery off-gas detection systems. It provides the starting point for the sensor daisy chain, distributing power and providing CANbus communications for connected Li-ion Tamer sensors.

Each hub can support up to 12 Li-ion Tamer Gen 3 Monitoring and Reference Sensors, allowing sensors to be distributed throughout lithium-ion battery installations for effective early warning coverage.

Unlike the directly powered hub, the LT-ACC-HUB-POE-HON receives its power through a compatible PoE Ethernet switch. This makes it particularly suitable for larger installations where multiple hubs need to be positioned throughout the protected area and providing a separate 12 VDC supply to each hub would be impractical.

The daisy-chain architecture simplifies system installation by reducing the amount of cabling and power distribution equipment required around the battery installation. Sensor data is communicated through the hub to the wider Li-ion Tamer network, where it can be processed by the Gen 3 Controller to identify potential lithium-ion battery off-gassing events.

Each PoE Hub is supplied with the terminators required for correct operation of the sensor daisy chain. The terminator is fitted at the end of the sensor chain to correctly terminate CANbus communications.

System Integration

The LT-ACC-HUB-POE-HON is primarily intended for larger Li-ion Tamer Gen 3 installations. Multiple PoE hubs can be powered using compatible Li-ion Tamer PoE Ethernet switches, providing a practical method of distributing sensors across large battery installations.

A compatible PoE Ethernet switch and associated power supply are required as part of the system architecture. Honeywell specifies a 48 VDC supply for its PoE switch arrangement.

Applications

The LT-ACC-HUB-POE-HON is suitable for Honeywell Li-ion Tamer Gen 3 installations protecting applications such as battery energy storage systems (BESS), data centres, battery rooms, manufacturing facilities, warehouses and other critical infrastructure containing lithium-ion battery systems.

Its PoE architecture makes it particularly useful for larger installations where sensors and hubs need to be distributed across multiple battery racks, cabinets or monitoring zones while maintaining centralised communications with the Li-ion Tamer Gen 3 Controller.
