Honeywell Li-ion Tamer LT-SEN-M3 Gen 3 Monitoring Sensor

The Honeywell Li-ion Tamer LT-SEN-M3 is a Gen 3 monitoring sensor designed to provide early warning of lithium-ion battery failure by detecting electrolyte solvent vapours released during the initial off-gassing stage.

Installed on or near lithium-ion battery racks, the LT-SEN-M3 continuously monitors for battery electrolyte solvent vapours that can be released when a lithium-ion cell begins to fail. Detecting this off-gassing at an early stage provides valuable additional time for appropriate safety and mitigation measures to be taken before the failure can potentially develop into thermal runaway.

In addition to off-gas detection, the sensor provides temperature and humidity monitoring, helping provide greater situational awareness of conditions around the battery installation. Off-gas, temperature and humidity readings are transmitted via CANbus to the Li-ion Tamer Gen 3 Hub for integration into the wider monitoring system.

The distributed sensor design makes the LT-SEN-M3 suitable for positioning close to lithium-ion battery cells and modules throughout an installation, allowing the Li-ion Tamer system to monitor multiple locations for early indications of cell failure.

Applications

The LT-SEN-M3 is suitable for lithium-ion battery installations where rapid identification of abnormal cell behaviour is important, including battery energy storage systems (BESS), data centres, battery rooms, industrial facilities, manufacturing environments and other locations containing significant lithium-ion battery installations.

The LT-SEN-M3 forms part of the Honeywell Li-ion Tamer Gen 3 system and is intended for use with the appropriate Gen 3 hubs, controllers and associated system components.
