Honeywell Li-ion Tamer LT-SEN-R3 Gen 3 Reference Sensor

The Honeywell Li-ion Tamer LT-SEN-R3 is a Gen 3 reference sensor designed to help prevent false-positive alarms within Li-ion Tamer lithium-ion battery monitoring systems.

Unlike monitoring sensors positioned close to lithium-ion batteries, the LT-SEN-R3 is installed around the protected environment and near potential external contaminant entry points. It monitors the surrounding atmosphere for gases and vapours that could otherwise be mistaken for electrolyte solvent vapours originating from a failing lithium-ion battery.

When a Reference Sensor detects gas before a Monitoring Sensor, the Li-ion Tamer Gen 3 system can identify the event as a likely external contaminant and activate its internal lockout state. This helps prevent nuisance alarms while allowing the monitoring sensors positioned around the batteries to remain focused on identifying genuine lithium-ion battery off-gassing events.

The LT-SEN-R3 also incorporates temperature and relative humidity sensing, providing additional environmental monitoring as part of the wider Li-ion Tamer Gen 3 system.

Applications

The LT-SEN-R3 is intended for use as part of a complete Li-ion Tamer Gen 3 installation in applications such as battery energy storage systems (BESS), data centres, battery rooms, manufacturing facilities, warehouses and other environments containing lithium-ion battery systems.

By providing a reference measurement of the surrounding environment, the LT-SEN-R3 complements the battery-mounted monitoring sensors and helps the Li-ion Tamer system provide reliable early warning of genuine lithium-ion battery failure while minimising alarms caused by unrelated environmental contaminants.
